Site redevelopment: Boyd is part of the redevelopment of the site bounded by City Road, Kings Way, Balston and Kavanagh streets. In 2012 the City of Melbourne entered an agreement with the Mackie Group to redevelop the site that will include an urban park of approximately 2,500 square metres and a residential and commercial building. The development will offer:
■ a variety of apartments for sale ■ approximately 46 affordable housing apartments ■ approximately 17 apartments specifically designed for people with disabilities ■ ground floor retail and commercial space ■ studios and accommodation for the Australian Ballet School ■ car parking ■ an urban park
The Mackie Group is currently working on the design of the development. Construction is expected to start early in 2013 (subject to planning approval) and will be completed by mid 2015.
The construction of the urban park is anticipated to commence in early 2015.
